Auto Insurance Premiums Are Very Costly

Some of the things that determine how much you pay for auto insurance are listed below.

• What Type of Vehicle you Drive
There is a clear difference between makes and models of cars in regard to safety. Moreover, higher-end cars attached to a bigger price tag are more attractive to car thieves and are more expensive to replace; they are also more expensive to fix after an accident.

• Your Address
If you live in a place that has a higher crime rate, your premium will reflect the risk of theft. If you locality has proportionately more auto accidents and submitted claims, it will have an effect on your premium as well.

• How You Use Your Car
If you use your car for the commute to and from the workplace or use it for business purposes, you’ll find that you will have a higher premium than those that drive just to go to the grocer or for leisure trips.

• If You Are a Good Driver
If you never have gotten a driving ticket or never been an accident, you will have a lower insurance rate than those who have a less pristine driving record.

• Your Claims Record
If you have previously filed insurance claims, especially if they have resulted in big payouts, your insurance premium will reflect that. But you may also find a rate increase if you have only filed claims in regard to accidents where you are not at fault.

• How Old You Are
Young drivers, especially boys in the teen years, are grouped together as riskier drivers because the statistics say they display poor driving habits and are involved in and cause many more serious accidents than older drivers. To a lesser degree, those sixty-five and older may find their insurance rates up due to age matters that contribute to poorer reflexes, eyesight issues and more.

• Marriage Status
Studies show that husbands and wives are not involved in as many collisions as those who are not married.

• How Your Credit Rates
Though this may not seem fair to some, insurance companies may class you as a driving risk due to your poor credit score.

Speaking to a knowledgeable specialist employed by an independent insurance agency will help you navigate through the web of insurance policies so that you are presented with the most tailored one at the most competitive price.

About Uninsured Motorist Insurance

Uninsured motorist means just that – a driver that doesn’t have insurance. And if they smack you and they don’t have insurance, then you have to sue them to get any money or to get paid for damages. But guess what? If they can’t afford insurance, do you really think you’ll be able to get any money from them if you sue? You could sue and probably win. But then you’d have to get a judgment and IF they had a job, then you could get their wages garnished for years and years to finally pay back the damages.

But it can go deeper than that. What if someone was hurt? Uninsured motorist covers you and your passengers up to the coverage you currently pay for as if you had the accident. So, if you had $100,000 coverage, but it wasn’t your fault, then your insurance company would pay the medical bills.

Try garnishing someone’s wages for $100,000. By the time they got close to paying you off, you’d die of old age.

Some insurance companies combine uninsured motorist coverage with underinsured motorist coverage. Let’s say they have insurance, but not enough to pay for all the injuries and repairs. Then your underinsured kicks in and pays the rest up to your policy limits.

Nobody wants to get into a car accident, especially with someone that doesn’t have insurance. Unfortunately, some people get insurance only long enough to get the tags for their car and then cancel their policy. Sure, they might get a ticket or if they have an accident, get fined, but these laws and fines still don’t get your car fixed.

Find Auto Insurance Plan

First, you need to ask what your budget is. You need to know what your finical status is and how much you can afford every month for auto insurance. Then you can narrow down some of the more expensive coverage in your insurance plans.

Second, decide the amount of coverage you want. Decide whether you want 15,000$ coverage per accident or 30,000$ coverage per accident. Normally, people will try to save money and choose a lower coverage. Personally, I would recommend choosing full coverage that would an accident fully. The reason is because the price difference between the two are minimal compare to the amount of they cover. For example, the difference maybe 10$ amount which means 120$ a year; however, if you get into an accident, the insurance policy will pay you maybe 50,000 than 15,000. You see the difference?

Lastly, find out what is the price range is for the coverage you have selected. After you know how much you want for your coverage. Go to different companies and ask how much their price is for the same coverage by calling them or checking it on their website. After you know how much different insurance companies cost find a well known brand with the lowest price on the same coverage.

Info of Liability Car Insurance

Liability insurance covers medical bills and legal responsibility for you if you are involved or cause an accident. If you are sued, and believe me I know, the “injured” party will sue for everything you’ve got and hopefully settle for whatever your limits of liability are.

I rear-ended a hooptie old pickup truck. Not bad, mind you. I checked on the lady and asked if she was all right. After she found her purse, she said oh, my neck, repeatedly until the ambulance arrived. The only damage to her no tail light truck was the home made bumper was bent. She was paid $2800 for a $500 truck and then she sued me for $78,000.

I only had coverage for up to $25,000 and she took the full amount and dropped the case, but she could’ve sued for more. I would’ve had to sold everything I had and then some to pay her off. So if you haven’t already, increase your limits of liability. I didn’t know I should increase my limits as I relied on my insurance agent to take care of me. He didn’t care. You know how much more it cost to raise my limits? $8. whoopee. I had to make him increase it.

Remember, you don’t always hit hooptie trucks in an accident. You could crash into a brand new Mercedes and that would easily eat all your insurance. Even a brand new “regular” vehicle can cost $25,000. I recommend you raise your limits to protect your home, family, savings, retirement, and any financial future you hope to have.
